This Week’s Arrests: From Walmart Drama to a Goat Heist

Every county’s got its fair share of DUI stops and bar fights, but this past week? Georgia came through with some next-level arrests 👉 Case #1: Walmart Showdown A woman in Vidalia was arrested after throwing canned beans at a cashier. Why? Because the store “didn’t double-bag her groceries.” Bond was set at $500. Honestly, cheaper than therapy, but still… not worth it 👉 Case #2: The Goat Heist Yes, really. Deputies in Toombs County picked up a guy trying to walk off with his neighbor’s goat. Middle of the night, pajamas, barefoot. He swore it was “just borrowing.” Sheriff’s Office was not amused 👉 Case #3: The World’s Slowest Getaway Some dude thought he could outrun the cops on a riding lawnmower. Spoiler: lawnmowers top out at 6 mph. He didn’t make it far - barely past his own mailbox Throwback: Crimes That Still Make You Go “Wait, What?” 👉 The McNuggets 911 Call (Florida, 2009) A woman actually dialed 911 three times because her McDonald’s ran out of nuggets. Police showed ...

Mother of Baby Grace Convicted

Kimberly Dawn Trenor, mother of the child who was once known as Baby Grace, was convicted of Capital Murder in Galveston, Texas.  The Galveston County District Attorney's Office elected not to seek the death penalty so Trenor will receive an automatic life sentence.
There is no question this woman's conduct was beyond disgusting.  Even a cat will protect its kittens.  Allowing some dude you met off the Internet to hurt your child, and to engage in the conduct yourself places a person far past the boundaries of grace or compassion.

Personally, I am against the death penalty in all cases.  Yet the facts of this case are so enraging, it is nearly understandable why the death penalty is on the books.  If I remember correctly, Galveston County's reason for not seeking the death penalty was the issue of proving future dangerousness.  I would never second guess an elected official's decision NOT to try to kill a citizen by lethal injection.  At the same time, if Galveston did not attempt  to go for death on this case, when would it?
Were Race, Age, or Gender a factor in the decision?  What if this Defendant was not a 20 year old, Caucasian female?  What if the Defendant was a 40 year old black male that viciously tortured and killed a little blonde-haired, 2 year old girl.
For Capital Punishment advocates, there is another issue to defend.  The discretion to seek the death penalty is solely placed in one person or a small committee's decision making authority.  Simply put, capital punishment is not dealt out fairly from county to county, not to mention the inequity of statistics regarding demographics.
I have a feeling I know how this case would have been handled in Harris County.  Lucky for Trenor, Harris County did not pick up the case.  Based on the facts, it sounded as if Harris County had an argument for jurisdiction because it appears the actual acts causing the death occurred in Harris County.
