Why People Confess to Crimes They Didn’t Commit

  It sounds impossible, right? Why would anyone ever confess to a crime they didn’t commit? Why sit in an interrogation room, look a detective in the eye, and say “Yeah, I did it”  - when you didn’t? But it happens. A lot. According to The Innocence Project , roughly one in four wrongful convictions in the U.S. involves a false confession .
