Doctor accused of sexually assaulting patient

HOUSTON (KTRK) - A 43-year-old Houston doctor is charged with sexually assaulting a patient at Ben Taub General Hospital two years ago. Shafeeq Sheikh is charged with sexual assault of an adult stemming from allegations back in November 2, 2013. Sheikh was a doctor of internal medicine, employed by Baylor College of Medicine. On Friday, Baylor stated he is no longer employed by the college, where he performed his residency.

The Murder Rate Dropped In Many U.S. Cities In 2017

Many major U.S. cities experienced a decline in their murder rates last year, a welcome relief after two consecutive years of increases in the U.S. murder rate. A new report by the Brennan Center for Justice found that the  overall crime rate  in the 30 largest U.S. cities fell 2.1 percent between 2016 and 2017 while the murder rate dropped 3.4 percent. While some cities experienced a rise in the murder rate such as Las Vegas (25.9 percent) and Boston (14.6 percent), several notorious murder-hotspots like Chicago and Detroit saw large decreases.

Accused of raping girl

A 17-year-old Clinton boy faces the possibility of decades in prison after being accused of raping a teen girl in a Clinton park Aug. 22. Carson D. Loback of 303 Maple Ave. was charged in Rock County Court on Wednesday with first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 16 by use of threat of force or violence and second-degree sexual assault, both by use of a dangerous weapon.
