Man Charged with Murder of Detroit Synagogue President Samantha Woll: No Indication of Hate Crime, Says Wayne County Prosecutor"

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced on Wednesday that 28-year-old Michael Manual Jackson-Bolanos of Detroit has been charged with homicide felony murder, lying to a peace officer, and home invasion in connection with the death of Detroit synagogue president Samantha Woll. Woll, 40, was discovered outside her home in the Lafayette Park neighborhood on October 21. Investigators believe she was stabbed inside her home before being found in her yard. Worthy clarified that there is no evidence to suggest a connection between Jackson-Bolanos and Woll or that the murder was a hate crime. Woll had attended a wedding the night before her death. Earlier, a second person of interest was taken into custody, and another individual was arrested on November 8 but subsequently released. Jackson-Bolanos had prior legal issues, with court records showing sentences in 2014 and 2019 for receiving and concealing stolen property.
